Some say I was raised by a pack of wild DJs somewhere off Central Avenue. Others say I just showed up one night, grabbed a mic, and never left the building. The truth? Still under investigation. What I can confirm is that I’ve spent most of my life chasing a sound, a laugh, and a connection — and somehow, radio let me do all three.
Early Life
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico — Burque through and through. My parents, taught me how to hustle early. Like most kids here, I grew up surrounded by music, laughter, and that “figure it out” energy New Mexicans are known for. In elementary school, when everyone else was joining gangs, I was picking my lifelong NFL team the 49ers, because back then they were kings, and I’ve been loyal ever since (through the good, the bad, and the “why are we doing this again?” years).
Radio?
Radio wasn’t the plan…it was the plot twist.
I started out DJing parties before landing my first real shot at just 17 years old on my favorite local station in ABQ. My early days weren’t glamorous, I was washing station vans, pulling pranks for the morning show, and hoping the boss wouldn’t fire me for something I said on-air. But that “Bad Boy” reputation stuck — and so did I.
I went on to host shows on my hometown station, eventually making my mark in different cities across the country, before coming back home to Albuquerque — where I now host mornings on 93.3 The Q with Leah Black. It’s local, it’s real, and it’s exactly where I’m meant to be.
FamBam!
Off-air, I’m a proud partner and dad first. I met the love of my life, Zariah (aka Z), at a club I was hosting called OPM on her birthday, no less. We’ve been inseparable ever since. Together we’ve got three amazing kids: our son we call Jito, the oldest and our twin girls Sashy and Lee Lee, who balance chaos and sweetness in perfect harmony.
Our home is loud, funny, and full of love, plus two furry personalities: Pops, our mini schnauzer who acts like security, and Minka (aka Monkey), our Scottish Fold cat who runs the place.
When I’m not on-air, I’m deep in my tech geek era — obsessed with gadgets, galaxies, and any new piece of AI that promises to “change everything.” I’m also a lowkey dinosaur nerd (don’t judge — those things are still cool).
I love exploring the world with my family, trying new food, catching football games, and finding reasons to laugh at myself. At the end of the day, I’m just a dad, a dreamer, and a dude who gets to talk for a living — still in awe that people listen.
I’m all about good music, real conversation, and keeping Albuquerque energy alive. If you ever hear me on the air, say what’s up — or hit me on Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.
Let’s keep the good vibes going, Burque.
